| 1. Is there a User Guide? |
Yes, it is included in every .zip download. You can also download it directly from this link.
The User Guide is a recommended starting reading: it’s both short enough and full of pictures!

| 2. Where is the WinLauncher for Palm OS home page? |
There are two homepages – one for the High Resolution (320x320 and bigger screens - like Treo 650, Treo 700, Tungsten T, LifeDrive, etc) and one for the Low Resolution version (for devices like Treo 600).

| Installation and upgrade |
| 1. How do I install WinLauncher? |
You have to install "WinLauncher.prc" as you install any other Palm OS application. A typical approach will be:
- Unpack the whole .zip archive.
- Double-click the "WinLauncher.prc" - the Install Tool will pop-up – adjust installation parameters and click "OK" in the Install Tool.
- Make a HotSync.
- Win Launcher appears in the installed applications as "WinLaunchR".

| 2. Installation error "The file does not exist" (or similar)?!? |
This is a known problem of the Install Tool when you try to install from a folder with a very long name (like "C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Desktop\Palm Applications\New\Win Launcher for Palm OS\WinLauncher.prc").
Copy the .prc file to a folder with shorter name (for example, copy it in "C:\") and install from there.

| 3. How to activate/exit WinLauncher? |
There is more on this topic in the User Guide (see the previous section - Locations)!
To activate Win Launcher (to make it the default launcher on your Palm OS device):
- Start Win Launcher.
- Tap "Start -> Device Control -> Activate".
To deactivate Win Launcher (and to exit to the built-in launcher of your Palm OS device):
- Start Win Launcher.
- Tap "Start -> Device Control -> Exit".
Once Win Launcher is deactivated, you can delete it as any other Palm OS application.

| 4. How to upgrade WinLauncher? |
Just install new version of Win Launcher over the existing one. Win Launcher automatically handles all upgrade procedures. There is no need to even deactivate WinLauncher.

| Registration |
| 1. I registered WinLauncher, where is the full download? |
Win Launcher for Palm OS is distributed as shareware and there is no full download.
You just get any public download distribution and install it on your device. When first installed, WinLauncher will run in demo mode, so you need to enter the registration key that you have received in your order confirmation email.

| 2. Help! I’ve registered the Hi-Res version but I have a Low-Res device (or vice versa). |
Do not worry – both versions exist simply to save space on your device by not including images that are for the “other” resolution.
There is no need to return/reorder/change anything. Just use the registration code that you’ve been given – it will fit!

| 3. Where is the registration key in the order confirmation email? |
Different online sellers call the registration key with different names. The key is a number from 1 to 99999 and is called "registration key", "registration code", "unlocking code", "serial number", etc.

| 4. I want to get the registration key again! |
Log into My Zone area! There you’ll find a list of all your registration codes...

| 5. The registration code you gave me is not working! |

| 6. I have new device or did hard reset and the registration code is not working! |
The registration codes are based on the HotSync ID of your device (this is the "name" of your device). This ID is CaSe sEnSiTiVe – "john" differs from "John".
If you have provided wrong HotSync ID during registration, have done hard reset and changed the HotSync ID of your device or have a new device – please, log into My Zone and there you’ll find a registration codes generator.
Notes!
- There is a limit of how many codes you can generate. After the limit is reached, no more codes will be provided for any reason.
- The limit is generous enough and we will not try to limit the usage of the codes – feel free to generate a code for a friend or someone else, but have the limit in mind!
- Please, double-check the HotSync ID before generating a code – there is no "Undo" command! See the next question about finding your correct HotSync ID.

| 7. How to find my HotSync ID??? |
Warning Current versions of Palm Desktop allow HotSync ID with trailing spaces – this a hard to find problem, so please read carefully!
We offer you 2 ways:
I. In WinLauncher:
- Tap the "Start" button – your HotSync ID is at the top of the menu window that opens up.
- Tap the "My Device" desktop icon – your HotSync ID is the name of the first "memory drive" listed.
There are screenshots of both above locations in the User Guide!
II. In Palm Desktop (this way allows to check for trailing spaces):
- Select the "Tools –> Users" menu. You'll see a list of all HotSync IDs known to Palm Desktop - you should be able to tell which one is yours.
- Select your HotSync ID name in the list and select "Rename".
- A box appears with all your HotSync ID selected – this allows you to see any trailing spaces! You can directly copy the text from there and use for generating new registration code (see the above question).
- Attention! - Make sure to click "Cancel" to prevent unwanted renaming of your HotSync ID.

| 1. How to setup a Desktop Wallpaper (from a JPEG image)? |
You need to have a JPEG (.jpeg/.jpg) file saved on your expansion card or internal drive. Here is a short explanation:
1. Tap on the "My Device" icon and then continue until you open the folder that contains the JPEG you need.
2. "Tap-and-hold" on the JPEG file and a context menu will pop-up.
3. Select the "Wallpaper..." item.
4. In the dialog that opens, select the desired placement for the new Desktop Wallpaper and tap "OK".
This and related operations are explained in more details in the User Guide – please, check the top question for a download link!

| Troubleshooting |
| 1. There seems to be a problem! What to do? |
First, please get the User Guide from here and check it – you may find the solution inside.
Next, please, report the problem to support @ aylin . biz! We’ll do one of the following:
- post a Q/A entry here.
- post an update in the next couple of days.
- reply you with information when to expect an update!

| 2. The device hangs up or resets when I tap an image/audio/video file? |
This is a known problem with some of the built-in applications – the fail to properly handle the launch command that says “open this file”.
What you can do – go to http://www.palm.com/us/support/index.html and check for updates for your device.
What we’ll do – we’ll add a "File Types" dialog, that will allow you to select which app to handle each file type or to set a file type not to be directly opened when tapped.
For now there is such setting for the "jpeg/jpg" files – see the User Guide, the "Settings" section.
